About me

Born and raised in the beautiful and eclectic Hawaii, Chris was exposed to a large variety of musical influences and became hooked on music in his teens. Shortly thereafter at the age of 16, he started studying guitar with a private instructor. After graduating from high school, he moved to Hollywood, CA to study at the Guitar Institute of Technology. There he studied with Paul Gilbert, Scott Henderson, Steve Trovato, and Robben Ford. Upon Graduation he returned to Hawaii to begin his professional career teaching and performing guitar.

His talents were seen early on as he competed and won first place in 3 guitar competitions and received local in greater Honolulu. Chris has trained and developed many different aspects of guitar playing and many different styles. Having worked in bands and groups of all different genres, Chris has developed the sensitivity and musicianship needed to crossover anytime he wishes and teach any style that a student has interest in. At the end of 2000, Chris moved to Northern California.

He began teaching at Pete's Music Center in 2002. He quickly developed a thriving studio and earned a name for himself around town. Having taught for more that 24 years, Chris enjoys sharing his diversity with his students. Chris's current projects include, Mandolin ensemble, Beatles cover band, Mariachi band, Wedding ceremonies, regular solo and group performances throughout the valley and foothills. -  Rebekah Hood, Cellist
